Academic Honesty: What does it mean to you?

Goals: Academic honesty survey as we begin to think about our next unit.

Quick write

Yep, another survey. But, this one is relevant to you, your classmates, and Point Loma High School!

Today we are launching a unit where we are going to study trends in academic honesty, cheating, and ethics among high school students. We will study some national and international trends, and compare them to trends we see at PLHS. Eventually, you will write about our findings. In order to collect the data that we are going to analyze, today you will take an anonymous survey about academic honesty.

Academic Honesty Quotes:

  • Use the internet to find a quotation that you think represents your views on academic honesty and integrity.
  • Paste the quote into your English Journal and write about why you chose it and how it represents your views.
  • If you can't find one you like, you may make up your own. Here are some examples:

"Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it's ended up not being right." --Mario Cuomo

"To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice." --Confucius

"My grandfather once told me that there are two kinds of people: those who work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was less competition there." --Indira Gandhi

"What is right is often forgotten by what is convenient." --Bodie Thoene
